Regulations

  1. Persons of any nationality may enter the Library for the purpose of employing the services offered: the consultation of catalogues, works and documents, the borrowing of books and the purchase of the Library's publications.

  2. To enter the reading rooms, visitors must be in possession of an identity document.

  3. To borrow books or consult journals, newpapers and modern works, visitors must be at least 14 years of age. To consult old, rare or valuable works or archival material, they must be at least 16 years of age.

  4. Rare or valuable materials may only be consulted after an interview with one of the librarians, who shall determine whether to authorise the consultation of originals.

  5. Total silence is to be observed in the reading rooms. For the protection of the collection, specific rules are applied to the consultation of rare or valuable materials.

  6. Computer terminals may be used by readers without cost.

  7. Visits to the reading rooms are permitted. Short visits should be conducted in silence and without disturbing readers. The rooms that may be visited are the Salone Furietti, the Periodicals Room, the Sala Tassiana, the Sala Giovanni XXII, the Portrait room and the Catalogue rooms.

  8. Each of the Library's services is covered by its own regulations, which may be examined at any time on request to the reading room assistants.
